Health and Safety Procedures (Sponsored by MJF)
Pre-Screening Tool
Parents are required to fill out a pre-screening checklist every morning before sending the student to school. Students without the pre-screening checklist will not be allowed to enter the school. More information on the tool will be forthcoming.
HEPA Air Purifiers
As part of BHA's response to COVID-19, we placed medical-grade HEPA air purifiers in each room and in hallways throughout the building. It can purify and replace the air in each room twice within an hour.
Plexiglass Barriers
As part of BHA's response to COVID-19, plexiglass barriers were placed in high-contact areas to reduce person to person contact.
Sanitizing Station and Hand Washing
Sanitizing stations have been placed in hallways by each classroom.
Teachers, staff and students are encouraged to practice frequent hand washing.
Masks
Teachers, staff and students will be required to wear a mask at all times. Scheduled mask breaks will be provided and masks will not be required during PE or outdoor recess.
We hope you are currently wearing masks; however, if not, we do ask you have your child begin to wear one. This is for their protection and for the safety of others, but also, to acclimate them to wearing one.
Water Bottle Refilling Stations
In response to COVID-19, water bubblers were replaced with touchless water bottle refilling stations. This is to reduce surface contact.
Students are urged to bring their own water bottle daily.
Cleaning and Disinfecting
Milwaukee Jewish Federation (MJF) made an additional investment of $54,000 for expanded cleaning services this year, including:
- Hiring a new cleaning company that has thoroughly cleaned and disinfected the whole school. An additional person has been added to the cleaning staff to disinfect high touch areas and bathrooms daily.
- Periodic disinfecting of common touch points throughout the day.
- Common spaces (e.g., lunchrooms, libraries, etc.) cleaned and disinfected after each use.
- Nightly deep cleaning of all spaces.
- Nightly disinfecting of surfaces and touchpoints in all rooms and common spaces.
- Equipping each classroom with sanitization supplies available for immediate disinfecting if an object or surface becomes contaminated.
- Upgrading air filters from MERV rating of 8 to MERV rating of 13.
- Increasing outdoor air ratios from the standard 20% to 50%.
Extra Health Precautions
If the student is at an increased risk from COVID-19, we recommend you consult with your pediatrician before the start of in-person school learning. Please inform us through our Principal Devorah Shmotkin at [email protected].
